See the suburb before you ring back
After asking what the job is, it asks which suburb it's in. The suburb is in every job text you get, so you can tell at a glance whether it's worth the drive before you ring back.
I set it up for plumbers working in these council areas:
- Northern Beaches Council area
- North Sydney Council area
- Willoughby City Council area
- Ku-ring-gai Council area
- Lane Cove Council area
- Hornsby Shire
- Mosman Council area
- Hunters Hill Council area
What counts as urgent for a plumber
If a caller's reply mentions things like these, the job comes to you marked URGENT straight away, day or night:
- A burst pipe, flooding or water gushing
- Sewage or an overflow
- A gas smell or gas leak
- The words "urgent", "emergency" or "asap"
Everything else, like a dripping tap or a quote for a new hot water system, comes through as a normal job, and after hours it waits until you open.
Who fixes what
A fair few callers ring a plumber for a fault that's the water utility's or the gas network's job. These are the numbers worth giving them.
Who to call: water and gas on the Northern Beaches and North Shore | Leak in the street, or between the meter and the street | Sydney Water faults, 13 20 90, 24/7 |
|---|
| Leak between the meter and the house, or inside | A licensed plumber |
|---|
| Suspected gas leak | Jemena, 131 909. Move away from the area before calling. |
|---|
| Anyone in danger | 000 |

Numbers that should never get a text
Most plumbers get regular calls from people who aren't new customers: the builder you subcontract to, the plumbing supply counter, strata and property managers, family. They go on your skip list on the setup call so they never hear from it, and you can add more in the app.
Which plan suits a plumber
Text-back suits you if most missed calls are people who'll happily text back with a photo of the problem. If your callers would rather talk than text, the AI receptionist is in pilot with limited spots, and I'm taking expressions of interest.
